Spatial dept and dramatic lighting effect are vital for creating atmosphere
in Roberts evocative paintings and drawings. Over the weekend he will
demonstrate various glazing techniques that create this chiaroscuro
(graduation of light) in his paintings. He has a good knowledge of a wide
range of art materials. So this course can be a general study in painting
and drawing or can be specific to each participants general interest and
aesthetic leaning.
The workshop will begin with a slide seminar Friday afternoon, showing how
artists developed chiaroscuro through the ages. He will discuss Da Vinci,
Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Rubens, Munch, and many more. Robert will also show
how he developed light effects in his own work.
Practical tuitions will make up the rest of the weekends workshop. He will
concentrate on individual tuition and will try best to accommodate each
